Wednesday 13/6/12 - Hollywood

Did the red bus tour of Hollywood. Drove through Beverly Hills, Melrose Drive, Rodeo Drive and got off at the Hollywood Walk of Fame to check out all the stars on the sidewalk. We had brunch at The Musso & Frank Grill which was a gorgeous 1930s cafe-with original fittings and even looked like original staff! The oldest restaurant in Hollywood. I had a Spanish omelette, started with a gin and tonic (it was that sort of place!) and Paul had bacon and eggs. They love their crispy bacon in the states! Paul also started with a beer and we finished with cappuccinos. Then we walked along Hollywood Boulevard, visited the touristy shops along the way and bought souvenirs. We went into the Hollywood & Highland Centre shopping mall as it boasted the best view of the Hollywood sign. Have a look at the photos of this OTT shopping mall. The images look Babylonian or Persian to me. Apparently LA boasts the largest Persian community outside of Iran, so it may be a Persian backed shopping mall. We visited the Chinese theatre, got back on the bus and passed Chateau Marmont which was perched precariously on the side of a hill. Also saw the House of Blues: Stella McCartney's Shop: And the Beverly Hills Town Hall which was apparently used as the Beverly Hills Police Station in Beverly Hills Cop with Eddie Murphy.... We got off the bus at Millions of Milkshakes where lots of stars go for their healthy shakes. You will be pleased to know that I bought a cherry peanut butter shake and Paul got a hershey bar shake. No stars were spotted. We got back on the bus and returned to Santa Monica. We relaxed by the pool with mojitos then had dinner in house that night. I got scallops while Paul had steak and we shared a bottle of wine.
